- By 1935, 95% of farmland in the USSR
was in collective farms.The lands were owned, and the crops were distributed by the state.
- While the state did get more food to sell abroad to promote industrial and machinery development, this was less due to increased production than to the state taking more food from the farmers, who could not object.
- Caused deaths of 7 million peasants as their crops were sold away for industrialisation purposes.
