Aafia says that she was arrested on her way to the airport, and she remembers getting an injection into her arm. Then she woke up in a prison cell which she though was on an air base because she could hear airplanes taking off and landing. She claims she was held in solitary confinement for more than 5 years, during which the same Americans interrogated her without masks or uniforms. For days they would play tape recordings of her childrens screams. They had taken the baby Suleman away from her immediately but they showed her pics of Ahmed (7) dead in a pool of blood and Mariam as a vague outline behind a pane of frosted glass.
Her supporters believe that she was kidnapped by the Pakistan security forces, handed over to the Americans and then detained with her children at Bagram Air Base in 2008 for five years. Binyam Mohamed, held at Bagram at that time, has described seeing a female detainee, Pakistani in origin, the same age as Aafia and who had been educated in the United States (known as prisoner 650 and Lady of Bagram).
