1st Dynasty (jan 1, 3150 BC – jan 1, 2890 BC)
Description:
The 1st dynasty, in terms of continuity and change, was mostly change as the Unification of Egypt meant improving the whole nation. The pharaohs of this dynasty were all focused on increasing trade, expanding borders, initiating building projects and creating a central government. They changed the capital city to Memphis. During this dynasty, writing on papyrus, calendars, linear measurements, mathematics, and astronomy were practiced.
Masabas were used as the Pharaohs burial place and the Narmer palette was discovered dating to the first dynasty. The Narmer palette includes many illustrations that would continue to be used in Egypt until it collapsed, including the Kings smiting pose.
