Major Industrial Legislation (jan 1, 1934 – dec 31, 1941)

Description:

Major industrial laws were passed to allow the government to control nearly every industry. This was done to boost Japanese production levels and remove foreign competitors. The laws involved: Petroleum Industry Law of 1934, Automobile Manufacturing Industry Law of 1936, Artificial Petroleum Law of 1937, Steel Industry Law of 1937, Machine Tool Industry Law of 1938, Aircraft Manufacturing Law of 1938, Shipbuilding Industry Law of 1939, Light Metals Manufacturing Industry Law of 1939, and Important Machines Manufacturing Law of 1941. These laws required companies to receive a license before beginning manufacturing and distribution. Further, these laws gave insentives for companies to invest in domestic industry.
