S2E8 (mar 26, 1919 – may 2, 1919)
Description:
In Episode 2.07 Lavinia says that she and Matthew are marrying in "April"; so Episode 2.08, when their wedding was supposed to take place, is set in April. Mary says that there are "Three full days" left until the wedding, thus backing up Lavinia's words. The dates and days do not line up entirely right, particularly Mary saying the wedding is in 3 days, then saying it was scheduled in a couple days, on Saturday, after an event planned for a Monday.
Takes place over at least 10 days, discounting Mary's 3 day statement, or 6 days if the Monday timing of the Bryants' visit is incorrect.
-In the morning, Mary says that there are "Three full days" left until the wedding. After dinner, Sybil and Branson announce their engagement.
-Mrs. Hughes talks to Ethel about seeing the Bryants again: "I'll ask them to Downton for Monday at four." Branson tells the servants he and Sybil will marry. Edith arranges wedding presents. Carson takes ill before dinner, and asks Molesley to serve. Molesley is unsteady during dinner, then Cora says she is unwell. Anna asks Bates to get a special license. Lavinia takes ill. Matthew and Mary dance and kiss. Lord Grantham and Jane kiss, and are interrupted.
-Monday? - Lord Grantham tries to bribe Branson to leave Sybil. Mrs. Hughes says 2 more maids are ill. Cora's illness becomes more serious. Matthew and Lavinia's wedding is cancelled. Bates tells Anna he's booked a registrar for Friday. Ethel and Charlie meet the Bryants, who want to take Charlie to raise. Lavinia tells Matthew they should break their engagement. Carlisle arrives. During dinner, Lavinia's illness becomes worse, and she dies.
