Nelson Burton Dunlavy held a lease for convict labor as early as 1877. The convict labor camp was located north of the Brazos River at the south end of the old Alexander Hodge League. Nelson Dunlavy died in 1881 and a portion of his land holdings where the convict camp was located was sold to Littleberry Ambrose Ellis in 1882. (jan 1, 1877 – jan 1, 1882)
