Samaritan Council (Samaritan Israelite) (jan 1, 288 – jan 1, 362)

Description:

Exact dates uncertain. Baba Rabba (likely ruled 308-328, or 288-362) reorganized Samaritan leadership, and divided the community into districts. Baba Rabba;s administration was centered at Nablus, and he restored worship on Mt. Gerizim at the site of the temple. Likely there was no Roman garrison and the Samaritan community was semi-independent through the end of the 3rd century and beginning of the 4th century.

During this time, the Samaritan community was the majority in Samaria (around Nablus, central Land of Israel) and in Judea (the southern Land of Israel) because of the ethnic cleansing of Jews that followed the Bar Kochba revolt.
