AOTA moves into its own building in Bethesda, Maryland (nd).

Several new occupational therapy books and publications are written and produced (nd).

Another research journal is published, by the name of Occupational Therapy Journal of Research (nd).

1986: AOTA separates professional membership and certification procedures. They declare that they are no longer responsible for board certification (see accreditation and licensure timeline).
