The Pacific Scandal is an event based on the pacific railway. John Alexander MacDonald. During the Canadian election in 1867 July, 20th, John A MacDonald received a letter, regarding a bribe of $350,500 from Sir Allan Hugh. Allen said that If MacDonald built him the railway he would give him that money to win the election MacDonald accepted the bribe and built the railway.The people of Canada especially the French felt shaken up because the money was going to come out of their pockets. Soon after the background check came out a on Sir Allan Hugh and the world soon found out about the bribe and MacDonald was forced to resign on October 12, 1867. Later on MacDonald's party returned in 1878 and served Canada until his death which was in 1891 This event had a big impact on Canada because if that event did not happen maybe Justin Trudeau would of done that to us.
