Great Plague of London (jan 31, 1665 – jan 31, 1666)
Description:
This plague was a massive outbreak of disease in England that killed 75,000 to 100,000 people. The disease was knownn as a bubonic plague, an infection by the bacterium Yersinia pestis, transmitted through fleas. This plague was one of the last widespread outbreaks in England. The first acruance was in 1665 in a parish outside the city walls called St Giles-in-the-Fields, because Rats carried the fleas that caused the plague.
