Description:
The Irish Potato Famine- also known as the Great Famine- was a period of mass starvation in Ireland caused by a disease called "late blight" that destroyed their potato crop. Because many Irish people relied on potatoes for most of their nutrition, they didn't have any food for almost ten years. More than one million people died.
