Indian Somalia (jan 1, 1980 – jan 1, 1991)
Description:
The Indians relationship with Somalians was through trading, and lasted for ages. They mainly traded things like livestock, skin, meat, and agricultural products. They first started moving to Somalia in the 1980's when plantation owners started hiring Indians to work on the plantations. About 200 Indian families live in Somalia where they have their own cities, where they have their own facilities, and schools. When the Somalia civil war began in 1991, almost all of the Indians in Somalia left.
