On September 11th, 2001 19 people in the Al Qaeda terrorist group hijacked four planes to attack the U.S. Their initial plan was to attack George W. Bush, but they were not able to get to him so instead they flew to New York. Two of the planes crashed into the Twin towers of New York City. The other two hit the pentagon in Washington, D.C and a field in Shanksville, PA. These attacks were devastating and killed around 3,000 people. Everyone still to this day remembers all the lives lost to this horrific attack.Added to timeline:
