USSR vs the United States

A war with very little fighting, but a lot of threatening. Also fought to stop the spread of communism.

This time period is a little goofy, but it starts with the Truman doctrine and it ends with the dissolve of the USSR

The USSR wanted neighbour buddies, so it attempted to spread communist ideals. The US did not like this, and so started the policy of containment.

The Cold War started with the Truman Doctrine, with the US wanting to support a civil war to become not communist.

The formation of NATO and the Warsaw pact sort of defined what countries were and weren't communist.

At this time there was also the nuclear arms race (most commonly associated with the cold war) as well as the space race. These were to show dominance in both categories.
