Laura Secord (Zoe) (sep 13, 1775 – oct 17, 1868)

Description:

Laura Secord was born in 1775 and died in 1868 at the age of 93. In 1813 she was forced to billet some American soldiers, from whom she somehow found out of the plan for the attack on Beaver Dams. Since her husband, James Secord, was wounded she decided to walk the 30 Km to inform James Fitzgibbon, a soldier, of the attack. Fitzgibbon prepared for the attack and on the 24 of June 1813 American troops came. He had close to 500 warriors and was able to persuade the troops to surrender. She was not mentioned until later on when she became known as a brave heroine who saved the Niagara Peninsula.
