The Arc of Triomphe is one of the most iconic and famous monuments in France, standing at the center of the Place Charles de Gaulle and the western end of the Champs-Elysses.The Arc was created when Napoleon Bonaparte commissioned French architect Jean Chalgrin to build an arch to the glory of the French Army.Building of the Arc began in 1806 and was completed in 1826.
The Arc of Triomphe affected Frecnch Nationalism as people began to feel very pround about the French Army. Becuase of this they created the Arc of Triomphe as and arc of glory and gratitude for the French Army that had defended them in many battles.
