Korean War (jun 25, 1950 – jul 27, 1953)
Description:
The Korean war was fought between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea(North Korea) and the Republic of Korea(South Korea). The war became an international affair when the Soviet Union joined North Korea in June of 1950 and invaded South Korea. The united nations joined South Korea with the United States being the primary supporter. The United States fought in an effort to contain communism. The war ended with Korea still divided into two hostile states. Mostly the Chinese helping, not the Soviets. 38th parallel armistice separates North Korea from South Korea.
How do the United States and Chinese support in the war reflect a larger conflict?
