Description:
Came to power in 1980 with Reagan. Many Americans did not like the protests against the Vietnam War and the attitudes of counterculture. Also didn't like divorce rates, changing American family, and southerners didn't like the success of the Civil Rights Movement. Alt right Barry Goldwater campaigned for president marked the beginning of the ascendency of the conservative movement, but lost in 1964 to Lyndon Johnson.
