Two Approaches: Washington and Du Bois: Washington’s stress on economics; Du Bois’ stress on civil rights (jan 1, 1895 – jan 1, 1903)

Description:

Brooker T Washington was an extremely influential African American man during this time. He delivered a speech in Atlanta in 1895 in which he exclaimed that African Americans need education and opportunities to economically progress which would help them achieve equality in both a political and social standpoint. W.E.B Du Bois was a scholar and writer who wrote the souls of black folk in 1903 which called Booker T Washington out and his wrong doings on trying to achieve equal rights for African Americans. Du Bois argued that the social and political rights that an African American possesses serves as a requirement for their economic situation.
