US Mexico War (apr 25, 1846 – feb 2, 1848)
Description:
Polk loves expansion so he creates a resolution to admit Texas. Mexico sees this as an act of war. Mexico and US can't agree on where the border should be. So, Polk sends his general Zachary Taylor into Rio Grande to set up for war. Provokes Mexico to attack. Three theaters: Mexico under Zach Taylor, in NM under Stephen W Kearny, and in CA under John C Freemont. Ends 1847 when Gen Winfield Scott seizes Mexico City and forces Mexico to sign a treaty.Added to timeline:
