Columbian Exchange (1492-1800) (jan 1, 1492 – jan 1, 1800)
Description:
The Columbian Exchange was a result of European contact with native Americans that caused an exchange of goods and diseases from the Old World and the New World. Europeans introduced valuables like guns and horses to the people meanwhile learning about crops they could profit off of. One of the most famous transfers was that of disease as it killed 90% of the native population and allowed for the colonizers to dominate them. The Columbian Exchange is important to American history as it reflects the most popular transfer of goods between the two worlds and demonstrates how they learned from one another.
