Other results of the war: Insular cases (jan 1, 1902 – jan 1, 1917)
Description:
The acquirement of the Philippines as American territories made the Philippine people wonder if the Liberties promised by the constitutional rights of the United States would also apply to American territories such as the Philippines and Puerto Rico. Anti-Imperialists argued that constitutional rights should extend to territories, while imperialists argued that they should not. In the end, the insular island cases, a series of Supreme Court cases on the issue, went in favor of the imperialist, ruling that cause additional rights did not automatically extend to American territories and that not to grant those rights on a case-by-case basis.
