Northwest Territory Indian War (jul 1, 1785 – aug 2, 1795)
Description:
Natives are pissed at the US for not including them in their post-revolution negotiations and for not rewarding their native allies who fought alongside them. Shawnee leader Tecumseh and his brother Tenskwatawa create alliances with a number of other tribes, creating the Western Confederacy. Another important leader of the movement was Miami chief Little Turtle. Wanted a revitalization of native culture and religion. Fought against encroachment. Won victories at first, but were eventually defeated at Battle of Fallen Timbers 1794. Result of the war is more pan-native unity.
