Description:

beginning in the mid-1700s, the popularity of cigarettes experienced a sharp increase. The quick increase and sheer number of people smoking made it very hard to see a correlation between smoking and lung cancer. It was not until 1947 that it was brought to the British Government that the increase in lung cancer should be investigated.
