War with Japan (feb 8, 1904 – mar 1, 1905)

Description:

The war began on February 8 1904 when the Japanese sent a secret attack on a boat in Port Arthur. The war mostly developed due to the rivalry of the two countries, and their warns of Korea and Manchuria. Japan quickly placed many bases in both Korea and Manchuria, and soon moved northward from there. Russia’s base moved to Shenyang, after many losses of battles against Japan. In October, 1904, the Russians started to have an offensive approach against Japan, when they were able to get reinforcements to their bases. After many battles, the final battle for land was fought at Mukden in late February and early March in 1905. After the battle, there was 330,000 Russian casualties and 270,000 Japanese casualties.
