Prague Spring (jan 5, 1968 – sep 12, 1957)

Description:

A period of time in which Czechoslovakia experienced democracy. The secretary of the communist party freed media coverage, aided victims of Stalin’s political reign, and more. The Soviet Union considered these reforms acts of rebellion. This showed the USSR’s intolerance for democracy or democratic approaches to governing. Soviet forces took over the country, and enforced restoration of communist policies. They “removed” the secretary.
