Cuban Missile Crisis (oct 16, 1962 – sep 12, 1957)
Description:
A stalemate between the US and the USSR. The Soviets had nuclear weapons in Cuba, which is within close proximity to the US, and as a result, the US was not very happy. The US established a naval blockade around Cuba. Everyone expected nuclear war as a result. However, the Soviet Leaders agreed to remove Cuban missiles, on the condition that US forces didn’t invade Cuba (and removed their own missiles in Turkey)
