Reagan and The Cold War During His Second Term (jan 1, 1984 – jan 1, 1988)
Description:
After establishing military supremacy through enormous investment in the U.S. military and aggressive interventions around the world, and Gorbachev's policy of perestroika, Reagan worked to reduce Cold War conflicts. Therefore, in 1987, the U.S. and the USSR signed the Intermediate Nuclear Forces Treaty that required the destruction of existing intermediate range missiles and on site inspections to ensure that both countries stuck to the terms of the treaty. As a result, by 1988, very little of the Cold War tensions were left.
