Missouri Compromise (mar 3, 1820 – mar 3, 1820)
Description:
The Missouri Compromise first admitted Missouri as a slave state, then admitted Maine as a free state, and finally all slavery was excluded north of the southern border of Missouri. This contributed to the outbreak of the Civil War because slave owners weren't allowed to move into any of the new states and farm with slaves.
