Prague Spring (jan 5, 1968 – aug 21, 1968)
Description:
A period of time in which Czechoslovakia experienced democracy. The secretary of the communist party freed media coverage, aided victims of Stalin’s political reign, and more. The Soviet Union considered these reforms act of rebellion. This showed the USSR’s intolerance for democracy or democratic approaches to governing. Soviet forces took over the country and enforced the restoration of communist policies. They “removed” the secretary.
