Description:
The word glasnost means openness or transparency in Russian. Glasnost in the Cold War was a period where the Soviet Union implemented policies that created a more open and less oppressive government with the more liberal poilicies of Perestroika..
Significance: The less oppressive government allowed the citizens to have knowledge about the politics as well, and allowed the citizens to make decisions for themselves.
