Dien Bien Phu (mar 13, 1954 – may 7, 1954)
Description:
The Battle of Dien Bien Phu marked the end of the First Indochina War, the precursor of the Vietnam War (the battle was fought between France and Vietminh). Ultimately, the battle would end with the French taking the big loss and lead to the meetings of the Geneva Accords.
As a result of the end of the Battle of Dien Bien Phu, the Geneva Accords would spark not only Vietminh plans of full rule over all of Vietnam (increase influence of communism), but also paved way for the US to have interventions in SE Asia as well as wars dealing with Containment.
