Description:

Even though Native Americans fought in the U.S. military during WWII, their living conditions and the ongoing racism they faced in the U.S. did not decrease. Approximately 25,000 Indians served in the U.S. military and 40,000 worked in the defense related industries. This employment opportunity drove many Indians to migrate off their reservations and increased Indian pride despite the ongoing racism they faced.
