The South: Agriculture and Cotton (jan 1, 1824 – jan 1, 1848)
Description:
This region was comprised of 15 states which formed a distinctive region where slavery was very prominent. The foundation of its economy was agriculture which tobacco, rice, and sugarcane being important cash crops however, one crop which exceeded those by far was the production and sale of cotton which made many in the south filthy rich.
