Hamilton's Financial Program (jan 1, 1791 – jan 1, 1811)
Description:
Alexander Hamilton was the Secretary of State, appointed to the President's cabinet by Washington. He proposed a plan to bring stability to the United States foundations.
His plan proposed:
- Paying off the War debt
- protection of the nations new and developing industries
- bring in revenue from placing high taxes on imported goods
- create a National Bank
- create a stable currency
Despite the disapproval from the Jefferson and the Anti-Federalists, congress adopted the plan for a length of 20 years.
