Townshend Acts (jan 1, 1767 – jan 1, 1768)

Description:

The Townshend Acts places taxes on tea, glass, and paper as a way to bring income to the crown officials in the colonies. This was the start of the British showing an abuse of power against the colonies. As they began to do unawful searches (as long as they had the writs of assistance, which is similar to a warrant today). Not to mention the taxation with representation , which was doing an injustice against the colonists.

People expressed their concerns and issues on the act. where John Dickson created the "Letters from a Farmer in Pennsylvania" where he expressed the injustices that came with this act. Which also go this Act repealed as they saw more harm was being done against British officials then good.
