Description:

Samuel de Champlain, is a cartographer, explorer, colonial administrator. He impacted the world by making maps, exploring Canada, and fur trading. He created and developed a fur trading company to trade with the Native Americans. He made maps for King Henry the 4th just for a small amount of gold. He travelled Canada to battle the Iroquois for the Algonquins. Samuel De Champlain won the battle between the Algonquins and the Iroquois. Champlain was a very helpful man because of all the accomplishments he did. Champlain played a major role in finding New France from 1603 to 1635. He travelled the Atlantic coastline, the Canadian interior and the Great Lakes region, and established friendly relations with the Aboriginal enemies of the Iroquois. Champlain participated in the foundation of French colonies in Acadia, at Québec and at Trois-Rivières. For many years, he stayed as the chief person responsible for administrating the colony of Québec. Champlain published four books as well as several maps of North America. He also designed maps for King Henry the IV since he loved to draw the seas. Champlain died in 1635 at 68 years old in Brogue, France.
