In Salem, MA. Initially, 3 women accused. One was hanged and 16 others followed. Several died in prison as well. By the end of it, 150 accused. Lots of theories, including Puritanism, histeria brought on by fear of attack form Natives, gender roles, and ergot spores.Added to timeline:
