Normalization/Rapprochement (jan 2, 1932 – jan 1, 1935)

Description:

USSR was beginning to recover from the effects of the First World War and the Civil War and decided to build a strong military. In 1934, USSR signed many treaties with European countries to create a rapprochement with the West but only did this for their convenience. The Seventh Congress (1935) of the Third International (an international communist organization led by the USSR) agreed with other political groups who wanted to check the spread of facism. This congress changed Russian emphasis on disarmament to urging rearmament.
