Nixon went to China (feb 21, 1972 – feb 28, 1972)
Description:
President Richard Nixon went to China during the 1970s, which shocked America. The purposed of the trip was to put pressure on North Vietnam in order to stop the Vietnam War. The result of the trip was that the Soviet Union gave way to pressure, and sigined a treaty with the US, limiting the number of missiles each nation could have. Nixon's visit to China is similar to Woodrow Wilson's trip to Paris after WW1, in that both trips had the purpose of doing signing a treaty.
