Montgomery Bus Boycott (dec 5, 1955 – dec 20, 1956)
Description:
The Montgomery Bus Boycott began after Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a city bus for a white person. It was an organized protest against discrimination, which was eventually successful in ending segregation on Montgomery's city buses. One impact on America was that MLK got his start here, as this was his first organized protest. It is similar to later sit-ins, because they both highlighted the injustice of discrimination, and were successful in ending those injustices.
