Description:
The number of Women in the Workforce during the war increased by nearly 60% and women accounted for 1/3 of paid workers. The famous “Rosie the Riveter” picture symbolized the new important role of women in the industrial workforce. Young girls working as secretaries and clerks in Washington were referred to as “Government Girls”
