Philippines Island Campaign (dec 7, 1941 – may 10, 1942)
Description:
The US was training a Philippine Commonwealth Army when the Japanese attacked, in a Japan-superior fight that eventually ended with zero US involvement, and the loss of the Philippines to Japan; Many of the defeated Filipino soldiers then became guerillas. Important people during this event include Admiral William F. Halsey, who was supposed to be in charge of the US's assistance to the Philippines, and General Douglas MacArthur the Supreme Commander of the Southwest Pacific Theater.
