Description:
Comecon was an international organization based in Moscow, the creation of which was initiated in 1948 by Josef Stalin in the Soviet Union in response to the Marshall Plan.
The goal of Comecon was to facilitate and coordinate the economic development of its member states (former members of the Soviet bloc), to create a self-contained economic bloc. Member states were discouraged from trading with outside countries.
