Korean War / Korean DMZ (jun 25, 1950 – jul 27, 1953)

Description:

The Korean War was a conflict between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to the north and pro-Western Republic of Korea to the south. The conflict began when soldiers from the North Koreans People’s army crossed over the 38th parrell into the pro-Western Korean territory to the south. Americans believed this was a communist plan to take over the world. The Korean War symbolized the fight between the east and west hemispheres during the Cold War. President Truman decided to take military action and get involved because he thought that the Soviets would take advantage and seize control of the peninsula, gaining more control and global power.
