Description:

Although its beginning date is debated, the authors who have been commonly claimed to be the starting point of this period, William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge, with their book Lyrical Ballads. This period ends with the passage of the Reform Bill and with the death of Sir Walter Scott. The most renoun representatives of this age are: Wordsworth, Coleridge, William Blake, Lord Byron, John Keats, Charles Lamb, Mary Wollstonecraft, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Thomas De Quincey, Jane Austen, and Mary Shelley. The Gothic era, a short period within, shows writers such as Matthew Lewis, Anne Radcliffe, and William Beckford.
