Period of Educated Nursing (jan 1, 1800 – jan 1, 1861)
Description:
During this period, nurses were in high demand due to war and began to be widely viewed as heroes. Women were also starting to be granted more educational opportunities. Florence Nightingale opened The Nightingale Training School of Nurses opened at St. Thomas Hospital in London in 1860. Here nurses first began to be trained in both theory-based knowledge and clinical skill building.
