The battle of Stalingrad (aug 23, 1942 – feb 2, 1943)
Description:
For almost half a year, the Soviet red army defended a city named after their leader, Joseph Stalin. The outcome left the German solders low on every necessity of life, from food to clothing to gasoline.
1. This battle greatly effected the lives of many families. Over 1.6 MILLION people died during the fighting. The average lifespan of a solider sent to the front lines was 24 hours. It was a death sentence. Many sons were ripped from their families handed a rifle and sent into a death zone. This would have been horrible.
2. This helped with the quest towards the end of the Nazi empire. This, as I said before, left the German army tired and starving. This was a huge breaking point of the German offensive.
3. This demonstrates the loss of God's hand. The soviet empire had no religion, as per soviet rule. The losses were larger than any other battle on any other front of the war. This entire battle was a failure on both sides. They both lost more men then they expected and gained next to nothing.
