As mentioned before, the Renaissance started after the Wars of Roses.
The wars of Roses was a series of civil wars, fought over the throne of England between supporters of:
• The house of Lancaster (red)
• The house of York (white)
Both houses fought against each other to get their man on the throne. After several battles it all ended in 1485 with the Battle of Bosworth field, and they settle that Henry Tudor wins (house of Lancaster) and becomes the king of England. He marries Elizabeth (house of York) to make sure the peace will remain. After years of war the 2 houses were finally united again
