After Henry VII, Henry VIII became king of England. He has a huge influence. King Henry VIII was known as ‘the virtuous price’ / defender of the faith. The pope gave him the name defender of the faith because he was highly against the reformation which was going on at that time. He tried to protect the religion. Henry VIII married Catherine, but after a while he fell in love with Anne Boleyn. Henry now wants to divorce Catherine, however, the pope doesn’t allow it. Henry VIII requested his divorce to the pope several times, but he didn’t give in. Henry was furious, and therefore he broke with the Catholic Church, through the act of Supremacy in 1534. The official state religion changed, and Henry VIII now is the head of the Church of England, which is absolutely bizarre. This created the Church of England (anglicanism) which is considered somewhat protestant
King Edward After Henry VIII dies, his son Edward becomes the king of England at only 9 years old. He dies at 15 years old.
